Gothic Quarter Tour Prices Explained, Fare by Fare
The short version. The quarter charges nothing, so a tour price is the price of a guide plus whatever else the fare bundles. Walks cost $15 to $41 per person. A sangria walk or a private walk costs $81 to $104. A tapas walk, which is a full meal with drinks, costs $79 to $102. Day tours cost $61 to $292, and on some of them you pay €44 more to the guide for the Gaudí tickets.
Gothic Quarter fares range from the price of a lunch to the price of a hotel night, and at first sight the listings do not explain why. This guide takes each kind of fare apart line by line, so you know what you are paying for before your Gothic Quarter booking.
Why is there no Gothic Quarter entrance fee?
Because the quarter is a public district of streets and squares, not a monument. No gate stands at its edge and no official body sells a ticket to walk in. There is no Gothic Quarter entrance fee to pay, on a tour or off one.
The money in the quarter is charged by the buildings inside it. Barcelona Cathedral's cultural visit costs €16, or €14 for students up to 25 and large families. MUHBA at Plaça del Rei costs €7.30, free for under-16s. A tour fare does not include either, unless it says so.

Read across each row and the gaps make sense. The cheap fares buy a guide's time. The dear ones buy transport, food or a guide to yourself.
How much is a Gothic Quarter walking tour?
From $15 to $41 per person for a shared walk with no extras. The lowest fare is the ninety-minute ghost walk after dark. The daytime walks of two to two and a half hours start at $21 for the classic small-group walk.
The highest shared fare, $41, is the introduction walk with a cap of ten adults and a native English-speaking host. The difference is mostly group size. Compare them all on the Gothic Quarter walking tours page.
Why do the prices vary so much?
Four things drive a fare up, and most expensive tours have at least two of them.
- Food and drink. A full meal with wine adds more to a fare than anything else.
- Transport. A coach, a minibus or a car, and a driver, for six to eight hours.
- Group size. Ten guests share a guide's fee differently from twenty.
- A private guide. Your party pays for the guide's whole time.
What does not drive the price is entry to the quarter, because there is none.
What are you paying for on a tapas walk?
A meal, mainly. Every food walk serves enough for lunch or dinner, and the drinks are in the fare. On the tapas and wine walk that means a glass of local wine at each stop. On the taverns walk it means four drinks at midday and five in the evening.

What does "pay €44 to the guide" mean?
On the Barcelona in 1 Day tour and the premium day, the Sagrada Familia and Park Güell tickets are not in the fare. The operator arranges them, and you pay €44 per person to your guide on the day. It is on top of what you paid when you booked.
So the real cost of those days is the fare plus €44 each. The Barcelona in 1 Day tour includes both tickets only on its private grade. The €44 on the day post explains how it works.
What is a tour grade?
An option you pick at checkout that changes what the fare buys. The same listing can sell a shared walk and a private one, a morning and an evening start, or a day tour with or without a Sagrada Familia ticket.
The price shown on a card is the lowest grade. A private grade, a flamenco show or an e-bike upgrade costs more, and you see its price when you choose your date. On the bus day from La Rambla, Sagrada Familia entry comes only with the option that includes it.
What does a crossed-out price mean?
Some listings show a higher price struck through beside the fare. The fare you pay is the lower one shown on the day you book. Prices move with the season, so the figure on a card is a guide to the fare, not a promise of it.
Tour prices here are shown in US dollars, as the operators show them. The €44 and the Cathedral's €16 are in euros, because you pay them in Barcelona.
Do you tip the guide?
If you want to. Gratuities are listed as excluded, or optional, on almost every tour. A tip is a thank-you, not a charge, and how much is up to you.
Tips aside, the only planned payment on the day is the €44 for the Gaudí tickets on the day tours that ask for it.
Which tours are non-refundable?
Almost every tour here cancels free up to 24 hours before it starts, for a full refund. The exception is the tourist board's own walk from Pla de la Seu, which is non-refundable and cannot be changed.
A few other terms cost money if you ignore them. On the introduction walk, arriving more than ten minutes late counts as a missed tour. The premium day needs four people to run, or the operator cancels.
What is the cheapest honest option?
Walking the quarter on your own, which costs nothing. The self-guided walking route links the named stops.
The cheapest guided option is the ghost walk at $15. Be careful with any lower figure. On a Segway listing, for example, the lowest price buys a five-minute test drive, not a tour.
When does a day tour beat a walk plus your own tickets?
When you have one or two days in Barcelona and do not want to plan transport and timed tickets yourself. A day tour links the Gothic Quarter, Montjuïc and both Gaudí sites with one guide.

Are there discounts for children and students?
Some. On the classic small-group walk, children under 2 go free and children aged 3 to 8 pay 30% less. The walks price everyone else at the adult fare, and the tapas walks are for adults.
The paid doors are more generous. Barcelona Cathedral's cultural visit costs €14 instead of €16 for students up to 25 and for large and single-parent families with documentation, and is free for visitors with a disability of 33% or more. MUHBA is free for everyone under 16.
What does a group booking cost?
The same per person as a single place, on every shared tour. There is no group rate on the listings, and Barcelona caps guided groups in Ciutat Vella at 20 people, so a large party may be split or offered a private grade.
Some tours set a minimum instead. The premium day sells places in pairs and needs four people to run. The introduction walk needs two guests, or the operator offers another date. For a family or a group of friends, compare the private walk at $104 per person with the same number of shared places.
How are the prices shown?
Per person, as a "from" figure. The figure is the lowest grade of each tour on the day it was last checked, so a later date, a weekend or an option can cost more. Every card shows what the price buys beside it.
